Utilizing The Faculty Syllabus Template
Providing an Accessible, Compliant Online Syllabus
The purpose of the Faculty Syllabus Template is to give faculty an accessible, compliant online syllabus that students can access. Just like the Faculty Bio Template, this template can be edited by any web editor. This template features all the sections required by a syllabus, with additional sections to give more of a class overview.
Obtaining The Faculty Syllabus Template
Just like the Faculty Bio Template, users can use any web browser to navigate to the Faculty Syllabus Template, and download it to their local machine. To obtain the Faculty Syllabus Template, go through the following steps:
- Go to the following URL using the browser of your choice. In this example, Internet Explorer will be used: http://www.csun.edu/ati/crimsonfacultysyllabus.html

- In your browser, go to <Page>, then select <Save As..>.

- Save the page as <class>syllabus.html under your public_html on your webdrive (W:). In the “Save Webpage” Window, set Filename: to <classname>syllabus.html. Then set Save as type: to Webpage, HTML only (*.htm;*.html). (In this example, the filename is ati101syllabus.html).
- In the location bar in the “Save Webpage” window, navigate to your public_html folder, under your webdrive (W:). To get there, select <Computer> in the left pane.
- In the right pane, select <CSUN Login Name (\\webdrive.csun.edu) (W:)>. In this example, it is ati on 'CSUN High Availability Samba (webdrive)' (W:).
- In the right pane, select the folder <public_html>. Once you have navigated there, select <Save> in the bottom right corner of the “Save Webpage” window. Note: These files are a framework, i.e. Template, of what your production pages will be based off of. These pages will not have active links or editable data.

Saving The Template To The WebDrive
After completing these steps, the Faculty Syllabus Template has been saved to the webdrive. Now the document can be edited to the end-users liking. As mentioned before, any web editor can be used to edit the document. There is documentation on editing the Faculty Bio Template using Contribute, Dreamweaver, and an Open Source Web Editor - KompoZer.
